As of April 6 2024, employees can apply for flexible working from their first day in a job. This is known as ‘making a statutory application.’ Flexible working can take many forms. Organisations can implement specific types of flexible working in different ways, such as three days a week instead of five, 32 hours a week instead of 40 and 9 am to 1 pm each day instead of 9 am to 5 pm.
