Peta Shaw had been the last remaining shop on Fore Street, in the historic community of Old Hatfield for over 40 years. It recently came back into the hands of our client, Gascoyne Estates, the landlord.

In a tired state, GDA worked closely with the estates’ property team on the design, and project managed the main contract to refurbish the C17 timber-framed double-fronted shop over four weeks. The works required great care to the Grade II listed period features and wattle and daub walls.

The shop has been given a new lease of life and bought it up to current standards. Work included the complete strip-out, reinstating wainscotting panelling, exposed brickwork, rewiring and plumbing, modern retail lighting, some with LED vintage lamps, resulting in a refreshing space to now trade.
