Our team lead Andrew worked with the iconic Woolmark brand back in the late 1970s as a then-junior team member at T&G Display Studios. T&G built and installed bespoke fashion shows, exhibition stands and displays for the International Wool Secretariat (IWS), who were at the time in St James, London. As a ‘production assistant’ Andrew regularly attended meetings with the IWS publicity team at Wool House and would be seen assisting on-site during the build at shows in London and throughout the UK.
There is a strong family connection with the Woolmark brand. Andrew’s father, E. Charles Gardiner, designed pavilions and displays, like the one shown here, at Agricultural Shows that toured the country through the 1960s and early 70s. The events attracted large numbers of the public who got to see the latest fashions and clothing technology of the time. IWS has since become the Australian Wool Innovation with the Woolmark brand a subsidiary.
